I grew up in Hamilton when Barton was a vibrant street lined with thriving family businesses. In the past decades the area has been in a constant state of transformation – trapped in time, yet full of possibilities. I created the project BigUpBarton to invite community members to explore Barton Street of the past, celebrate Barton Street of the present – and envision Barton Street of the future.

BigUpBarton is a pop up museum located at 749A Barton Street East (near Lottridge) It consists of audio interviews on ipads,  a map of the street where participants can write their hopes, dreams and memories and a video featuring a binaural recording of my journey on the Barton bus coupled with images of the street and events that happened there through time.

BigUpBarton was commissioned through a residency at Centre [3] for Print and Media Arts. It is part of Pop UP Shop Media Arts, curated by Jim Riley.
