BigUpBarton is a pop up museum consisting of audio interviews of people who lived, worked and played on Barton street. Camille Turner grew up in Hamilton when Barton street was a vibrant thoroughfare lined with thriving family businesses. In the past decades the area has been in a constant state of transformation – trapped in time, yet full of possibilities. Turner created BigUpBarton to invite community members to explore Barton Street of the past, celebrate Barton Street of the present – and envision Barton Street of the future. BigUpBarton was commissioned as part of Pop UP Shop Media Arts, an exhibition curated by Jim Riley. It was developed through a residency at Centre [3] for Print and Media Arts.
