TimeWarp is a video staged at Markham museum and Heritage Village site in Ontario, Canada. Hannah Walk, the narrator of the video recounts her personal story encountering mysterious Afronauts (African space travellers). Visitors participate in the narrative by using their phones as time machines to enable them to experience the adventure. The story follows Hannah as she encounters Afronauts through Markham Museum’s Heritage Village. By following her directions they see what she saw as she follows the Afronauts through the site.
The artwork is a part of the series The Final Frontier, which follows the adventure of the Afronauts, African Space travelers who are descendants of the Dogon people of West Africa. According to Dogon stories, their vast knowledge of star systems predating Western science by thousands of years came to them through extraterrestrials. The Afronauts have returned to home to save the planet.
